The town of Whistler in British Columbia was the site of the 2010 Winter Olympics, and has been one of the most popular outdoor attractions in Western Canada for several years. Whistler is about 75 miles north of Vancouver International Airport, where nearly all visitors arrive. Whistler accommodation and ski lodges offer varied accommodation types for families, plus luxury apartments, condominium lodges, and big 5-star resort properties.
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler is a children-friendly establishment, with magnificent views from the Mallard lounge. There are both indoor and outdoor pools, and guests can swim from one to the other. The ski lifts are right outside the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.
At the Whistler Alpine Chalet and Wellness, those looking for a cozy romantic getaway will have a great time. There is a jacuzzi under the gazebo, plus suites with fireplaces. Includes a delicious breakfast and fresh, home-cooked meals. Whistler Alpine Chalet is about a 20 minute walk from the center of town.
For those travellers on a budget, the 3-star Pinnacle Hotel is a great value right on the village. Restaurants, shops, bars such as B.B.K’s Pub, plus the gondola lifts going up to Blackcomb Mountain are all within easy walking distance. Rooms come with a fully-equipped kitchen, and some have a hot tub. There is a city park next to the Pinnacle Hotel, and there is free parking a block away.
